Amecor expects earnings to rise

Electronic security systems manufacturer Amalgamated Electronic Corporation says earnings are expected to improve in the year to March, when it reports results on 11 June.

The company says both earnings and headline earnings per share for the year to March are expected to improve by between 35% and 50%, compared to the year to March 2008. Last year, Amecor said revenue was R42 million, an improvement on the previous year`s R38 million.

In the year to March 2008, it reported headline earnings of R15.8 million, up from the previous R13.8 million. The company said earnings per share were 23c last year, compared with 25.8c in the prior year. Headline earnings per share were also 23c, compared with 25.7c in 2007.

JSE listing requirements stipulate that companies must inform shareholders as soon as they are aware, to a reasonable degree of certainty, that the financial results for the period reported on will differ by at least 20% from those of the previous corresponding period.

The company has several divisions, such as the FSK Group, which holds FSK Electronics SA. It produces short- and long-range digital synthesised radio transmitters; computerised radio and GSM repeater networks; high-speed radio and GSM modems; guard monitoring equipment; and a range of GSM-based equipment integrated with high-speed radio networks facilitating signal transmission worldwide.

Also in the group is Sabre Radio Networks, which owns and operates licensed data radio networks throughout SA.

The PDS Group holds Power Development Services, which supplies, installs and maintains uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems, generators and associated standby power equipment. Durapower Manufacturing imports components, and assembles, distributes and sells UPS systems and associated standby power equipment.

Gillespie Diesel Services assembles, distributes and sells generators.
