
The alleged Absa e-fraudster`s bail hearing has been postponed for the third time in two months in the Bellville magistrate`s court in Cape Town.
Accused Johan Jacobus Fourie made his fifth court appearance today, but his legal counsel was ill, and the bail hearing was postponed to 7 October.
Fourie is charged with defrauding 10 Absa clients involving about R609 714 between May and July. Most of the stolen funds were spent on consumer goods including 10 laptop PCs, while amounts totalling R76 025 were allegedly deposited into Fourie`s account.
The Western Cape Directorate of Public Prosecutions is also considering laying charges against Fourie in terms of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
