AOL buys StudioNow for $36.5m

AOL has made a $36.5 million deal to buy online video platform StudioNow. AOL says the deal is all about integrating a 'fully functional' video creation platform into its Seed.com content management system, says Digital Trends.

Seed.com is AOL's recently introduced content management platform that it uses for interacting with freelancers and anyone who wants to get their content into AOL's properties, including assigning, purchasing, and acquiring content.

After the acquisition, StudioNow will continue to work on its existing businesses providing online video management, syndication, and creation tools to businesses. AOL will pay out the $36.5 million over “multiple years”.

Box.net builds cloud content management

Box.net unveiled Cloud Content Management, a layer of management capabilities for files, users, groups, workflow and collaboration atop the company's Web-based file storage system, reports Network Computing.

According to the company, the move is an effort to provide today's increasingly mobile workforce with a platform that's in line with the way they work, more so than similar solutions available.

The Box.net service provides cloud-based file storage and sharing for a monthly fee, based on the number of users in a company or department. Files are uploaded through a browser and organised in folders, just as on a hard driver or server.

Management console for Kyte platform

Kyte, the online, mobile and social video platform for live and on-demand content, has released Kyte Console 2.0, a comprehensive, enterprise-grade content management and solution for the Kyte Platform, according to Streaming Media.

Available immediately, Kyte Console 2.0 gives organisations improved flexibility and workflow capabilities for managing, publishing, moderating and measuring video content online and across mobile and social platforms.

“Organisations have sought out Kyte to help deliver cutting-edge video initiatives that reach audiences wherever they are - online, on their mobile devices and within their real-time social activity streams,” said Daniel Graf, co-founder and CEO, Kyte.
