Aon announces major restructure
Insurer Aon has created a new global specialty business unit, reports Domain-B.
Aon Specialty will take advantage of the corporation's decision to pull together Aon's $5 billion in retail revenue, 26 000 staff and $54 billion in annual premium throughput into one global team designed to best serve clients.
Aon Group vice-chairman Grahame Chilton will lead a multi-year effort to improve growth across all areas of Aon. Chilton is the former CEO of Benfield Group, which was recently acquired by Aon. Benfield Group is a leading independent reinsurance and risk intermediary.
SOA has its risks
Many organisations may have conflicting priorities that emerge when it comes to SOA-based projects. This is according to Todd Biske, enterprise architect and author of a recently published work on SOA governance, says ZDnet.
SOA governance should provide a structure to address competing priorities, and get the right people involved, Biske said.
There are two types of risk that managers and companies assume when they start into SOA. One is that companies create a service and nobody uses it. However, having too much success with SOA may even be riskier.
OpenService releases risk-based solution
OpenService released the industry's first risk-based security metrics reporting system, states Cloud Computing Journal.
The system will help corporations monitor their IT risk trends and determine the effectiveness of their security controls.
Available in the latest release of OpenService's flagship software product, InfoCenter 5.1, this solution measures risk automatically by analysing events reported by security and network devices, operating systems, databases and applications.
