Apple's new operating systems, iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan beta, are available for public download.

The first public beta versions of Apple's new operating systems are available for early adopters to 'play with'.

Announced at Apple WWDC last month, the official release of iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan will be ready for the whole Apple community later this year. However, those willing to take the risk of testing a new operating system can download the beta versions.

It is risky for the public to download beta versions of operating systems because there may still be bugs that could break apps or clear data.

"As a member of the Apple beta software program, you can take part in shaping Apple software by test-driving pre-release versions and letting us know what you think," states the Apple Web site. When testing the new systems, it is recommended users take a screen shot of bugs encountered and follow these steps when reporting.

The first versions of the operating systems were made available to registered developers, for a fee, soon after the announcement, to test apps on the new system.

Testers of beta iOS 9 have noticed these improvements:

* The iPhone keyboard will now shift between capital and lower case letters; before it was all capital letters all the time.
* Selfies and screenshots will be stored in separate folders in the user's photo album.
* Higher audio quality when streaming from Apple Music.
* Other updates include a boosted battery life, a new improved 'smarter' Siri and a better notes app.

Users are also able to go back to iOS 8.4, if iOS 9 beta is not working for them, as this Techtimes.com guide to 'going-back' explains.
