Apple sales growth continues
Market research firm Gartner says Apple is the sixth-largest PC manufacturer in the world, reports Arstechnica.
After tallying the numbers from PC manufacturers' 2007 sales, Apple is now in sixth place worldwide, right behind Toshiba, which is hovering just under 20%.
Apple has been making significant inroads in the US with both the Mac and Safari browser, enjoying 50% to 60% year-over-year growth in 2008.
Wipro expands production
Wipro Infotech, part of the IT company Wipro, has unveiled its second manufacturing unit at Kotdwar, India, reports Stockwatch.
The new unit will manufacture servers, storage devices, notebooks, desktops and allied goods.
The company aims to cater to customers in northern region of the country more effectively with the latest facility.
Lenovo offers gaming
Wild Tangent announced it has signed an agreement with Lenovo to ship the Wild Tangent Orb game console, pre-installed on Lenovo Idea Pad notebooks and Idea Centre desktop PCs, according to Pr-canada.
In addition to the game console, each Lenovo consumer PC will come pre-installed with games from developers such as Pop Cap, Play First, Eidos, Sierra and THQ.
Wild Tangent's game console already ships on consumer PCs from HP, Toshiba, eMachines and Gateway.
