Bank ups fraud protection

Parascript says North Dallas Bank has implemented the OASIS cheque fraud detection platform from Advanced Software Design Corporation that incorporates Parascript cheque stock verification and signature authentication technology, reports Earth Times.

The platform allows North Dallas Bank to process images of personal and business cheques faster and with higher accuracy than with visual inspection.

Additionally, it enables North Dallas Bank to lower the dollar amount threshold for cheques to be verified and examine cheques written for lower values, resulting in increased throughput and reduced exposure to fraud.

Xerox tricks counterfeiters

Xerox has introduced a new security technology that prints variable text that can`t be read under normal light, but can be read when exposed to infrared light, reports Trading Markets.

The technology can be used to authenticate tickets, coupons, certificates, licences, identification papers and other high-value documents.

InfraredMark Specialty Imaging Font does not require special ink, but is printed with ordinary toner, the "dry ink" that forms xerographic images. It can be produced on standard Xerox digital systems using standard papers.

Print, scan, copy cheaply

The downside of the inkjet colour-printer revolution has always been the high cost, says Herald Sun. Not so much the purchase price of the printer, but overall printing costs, including ink and paper.

However, the introduction of Kodak`s EasyShare range of printers, according to the company, essentially halved long-term print costs. The EasyShare 5300 is aimed at home and home-office users.

Kodak describes it as an 'all-in-one` printer, meaning it performs the triple roles of printing, scanning and copying. The one downside for home-office users is the lack of fax support in the range.
