Listed outsourcing firm Business Connexion (BCX) will re-examine Gadlex's share in the company as it seeks to gain more black shareholders.

CFO Vanessa Olver says the organisation will review its ownership structure shortly to give it a better empowerment profile. BCX has been securing more public sector business, which now accounts for a fifth of revenue, from 17% in May last year.

Currently, Gadlex owns 20.1% of BCX, a position it entered into when black-owned IT company Business Connexion merged with Comparex Africa in January 2004.

The former 'Business Connexion', which became Gadlex, acquired 25.01% of the merged entity and Comparex Africa retained the balance.

However, in December 2007, BCX restructured its BEE shareholding, which trimmed 5% off Gadlex's holding.

Olver says BCX wants to move a step up the ladder in the next year, but has not yet decided how to do this at an equity level. However, a share incentive scheme is also in the pipeline. The company's empowerment scorecard indicates that half of its board, and 40% of all staff, are black.
