Bharti Airtel wins awards
Bharti Airtel won the award for 'Best project management' and the 'Best content service' at the World Communication Awards, held in London, states Tech Whack.
Airtel states the E-gram connectivity infrastructure project is the largest e-governance rural connectivity initiative at the village level.
The Indian telecommunications company had partnered with the Gujarat government to set-up telecom infrastructure to connect panchayats and common service centres across 13 716 villages in the state.
PM in demand
As businesses tighten their belts in response to the recession, they're turning to project and portfolio management software to help them identify which IT projects are mission critical, and to help them execute those projects as efficiently as possible, says NetworkWorld.
Increasingly, they're opting for software as a service (SaaS) versions of project management and portfolio management solutions, because SaaS is cheaper and easier to deploy than traditional, on premise software, according to tech industry analysts and customers who've gone the SaaS route.
Melinda Ballou, programme director for IDC's application life cycle management research, says demand for SaaS versions of project management and portfolio management tools was on the rise prior to the collapse of the financial services industry in the fall, and that despite the recession, she expects demand for hosted project portfolio management solutions to continue.
