As the amount of stored information increases further, the year 2008 will be the start of a slugfest among business intelligence (BI) software providers, according to Inquirer.net.
BI has become one of the hottest segments in the software market today, thanks to various billion-dollar acquisitions. The latest was IBM's announcement in November to acquire Canadian firm Cognos.
While consolidation and convergence are expected to contribute to some downward pricing pressures, IDC expects the overall BI market in Asia Pacific to continue growing positively in 2008.

TXT combines supply chain, BI
Supply chain software developer TXT e-solutions is combining the analytical capabilities of BI with demand and supply chain management, says MC Solutions.
TXT Perform 2008 exploits new technologies as a result of its partnership with Microsoft, which, it says, makes it easier and cheaper to add specialist industry software like TXT's onto existing ERP solutions.
The company also claims that functionality and performance are superior to supply chain systems provided by "generalist ERP suppliers".
