BI delivers to BlackBerry

MicroStrategy has announced the general availability of MicroStrategy Mobile, a new product that delivers () information directly to BlackBerry smartphones, reports CNNMoney.

MicroStrategy Mobile enables business users to receive the same reports on their BlackBerry smartphone that they receive on their desktop, without the need for reformatting or retrofitting existing reports.

It leverages the same features of the MicroStrategy platform, as well as the security and connectivity infrastructure provided by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Excel BI solution available

Cognos has announced the general availability of Cognos 8 BI Analysis for Microsoft Excel 8.2.

The new enterprise BI capability enables Microsoft Excel users to interactively explore and analyse centrally controlled and secured Cognos 8 Business Intelligence performance information.

It is designed for the business or financial analyst who works regularly in Excel under tight time pressures to create ad-hoc analysis and reports that access multiple data sources.

Adobe teams with Business Objects

Adobe Systems is teaming up with Business Objects to add BI capabilities to rich Internet applications (RIA), says PC World.

The companies plan to build a Business Objects Xcelsius Connector to Adobe LiveCycle Data Services ES, the company's software for providing data-remoting, messaging and data-management capabilities integrating RIAs with existing application and backend data.

Adobe is fighting a war with Microsoft on several fronts, and one of those is in the area of the development and deployment of RIAs that share as robust an experience on the desktop as they do on the Web.
