BI, financial reporting to converge
Hyperion Solutions CEO Godfrey Sullivan predicts all business intelligence (BI) software vendors will seek to integrate their reporting tools with financial planning applications, reports News.Com.
Sullivan says 50% of Hyperion`s licence revenue came from its business performance management (BPM) suite that combines the company`s financial applications with its reporting and analysis tools.
According to Sullivan, BPM is the future of BI because the market wants more than simple reporting and analysis, demanding instead things like modelling, planning and financial integrity in terms of reporting.
Twinning prevents downtime
Teradata area VP for South-East Asia and India Dennis Samuel says the best protection against business downtime lies in having two production systems that are operational and available to manage routine workloads, reports Express Computer.
According to Samuel, companies that once used their data warehouse only to support strategic business analysis, are now using "active" data warehousing to support nearly every core business function.
As a result, Samuel says companies are at enormous financial risk when the system is unavailable and therefore should consider having two production systems to ensure at least one system is operational at any given time.
