is intelligent business
Collecting information about customers is relatively easy. Analysing customer information for potential cross-sells, increased revenue streams and improved service is more challenging, says CIO Asia.
But getting the information to the front line in a timely manner and thus providing further competitive edge is proving increasingly difficult for many corporations.
As business intelligence (BI) divisions spring up in organisations across the globe, the same question is being asked: "How can we unlock the value of our data?" The answer lies in implementing an appropriate organisation structure and in identifying and appointing the right executive.
Business Objects, Accruent expand relationship
Business Objects and Accruent on Thursday extended their relationship to deliver a solution to companies looking to close the gap between corporate strategy and real-estate operations, says RTT News.
Business Objects said by inserting the company's BI platform into the Accruent RPM software, organisations will be able to deploy solid BI across the real-estate life cycle, from acquiring and developing properties to managing locations and facilities.
As per the terms of the deal, BusinessObjects Enterprise XI will be embedded in the Accruent 7 RPM solution, the enterprise application suite for real-estate intensive businesses.
BI must adapt to pressures
BI, utilising data warehousing as a primary conduit, must adapt to competitive pressures, says DM Review.
There are business realities forcing these changes: there is an information explosion, which can inundate a data warehouse's intake capabilities and render non-automated analysis to the most basic of levels.
Information has become a key corporate asset and is the prime mover of decision-making today. The architecture supporting corporate information needs to be guided by a vision that is in touch with these realities.
