For Waldemar Adams, VP of sales for EMEA Business Intelligence at SAP, Saphila is a forum for current and potential SAP customers to get a better idea of what SAP has to offer.
Adams is based in Germany and is a guest speaker at this year's event. "If I could only attend one SAP event for the emerging markets, it would be Saphila," he says.
Adams will be doing two presentations at Saphila 2012. His first focuses on the future of SAP's BI strategy, looking at HANA technology, which is able to operate 100 000 times faster than traditional databases. His second presentation is about mobile BI. According to Adams these two areas are of great relevance today, particularly as the need for effective BI strategies increases. "More and more people are seeking greater insight and a sound BI strategy will soon become mission critical," he says.
When talking about his mobile strategy presentation, Adams asserts that mobile BI combines two key SAP focuses - mobility and analysis. "Mobile BI is becoming important as more and more organisations migrate towards mobile devices and workforces increasingly expect solutions that are capable of running on these new devices."
On a single user level, being able to use the solution on the chosen device is enough, says Adams, but for the enterprise customer one needs to be thinking about confidentiality and how to make sure that the information that is accessed on other devices is secured.
According to Adams, Saphila is of great value to customers and potential customers because it is the perfect place to make contact with other SAP users. "It is not only about talking, it is also about listening and it is important to get feedback from customers and users," Adams says. "Saphila is the biggest concentration of SAP customers and people from within the SAP ecosystem."
Adams stresses that part of the appeal is the fact that Saphila is not just a marketing event and that great care is taken to ensure that the content is of the highest standard.
"At Saphila you will get everything you need to know about SAP in just two short days and because the content has a local focus run through the support of the local user community and the content is aimed at an African audience."
