BlankPeopleworks24 launches Domestix - a domestic employers HR service

South African households are faced with the responsibility of running a small human resources office from home for their domestic worker(s). Domestic employers are racing to submit registrations for the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and few are prepared for all the additional human resource compliance issues.

Peopleworks24, a leading online IT solution provider to the human resources industry, has announced the launch of its latest service, Domestix.

Domestix is designed to solve domestic employers issues and more importantly, supply a long-term solution in the day-to-day and monthly management of domestic staff.

"What domestic employers don`t realise is that registering for UIF is not the only compliance issue from a legal perspective," says Corrie Niemann, managing director and founder of Peopleworks24. "Employers need to be aware of the legal implication if they have not registered for UIF and paying the monthly contributions. Employers will be liable for substantial fines and a possible prison sentence."

Domestix is a tool that assists employers with their HR requirements and ensures they are legally compliant with current legislation. The online service includes the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Unemployment Insurance Act, and the Labour Relations Act as well as other documentation required for compliance.

Domestix users will receive bi-monthly newsletter that will keep them up to date with relevant domestic HR issues. They will also be able to go to the online forum for assistance.

According to Niemann: "The Basic Conditions of Employment Act was established to protect both employer and the employee. Being legally compliant with one`s domestic servant encourages communication between the employer and the employee. It is important that both parties are aware of their rights and responsibilities."

The implementation of the UIF registration has prompted many employers to register.

However, there are other compliances that protect both parties if a dispute should arise. Employers need to ensure they have contracts and accurate records on hand, which will resolve most complaints swiftly. On the other hand, should they not be in order the employer is liable to being fined or a possible prison sentence.

Niemann continues: "To be legally compliant, employers need to register for UIF, pay the contribution from both employer and employee UIF, have an employment contract in place, produce monthly payslips, keep attendance register, a complete leave register and work within the parameters of the Basic Employment Act.

Domestix is an online service which is user-friendly, with a step-by-step guide explaining how to make use of the service. Once registered, employers will have access to all the information and tools needed to be legally compliant. Subscribers will have their own personal login username and password that will give exclusive access to their household`s information - payslips, contract, UIF registration, etc.

For access to Domestix and all its services, all that is required is to register online at www.peopleworks24.com, pay your annual subscription of only R199 incl VAT per annum. You have the option to either pay by credit card or do a direct transfer via Internet banking.

Domestix will soon be available on a CD in leading retail stores nationwide.
