Brocade intros unifying architecture

Allowing customers to simplify the complexity of virtualising their applications, Brocade has unveiled Brocade One, the unifying network architecture and strategy, reports TMCnet.

As IT environments continue to evolve, today's organisations are looking for more flexible network infrastructures that can handle ever-increasing traffic and utilise virtualisation to deliver a wide range of on-demand services.

The Brocade One architecture is designed to help these organisations to achieve that goal. The company will offer a suite of solutions in support of converged fabrics and Ethernet networking, which will execute on the Brocade One architecture.

Enterasys tracks applications across network

Enterasys, a unit of Siemens Enterprise Communications, has unveiled an intelligent network architecture that tracks both applications and the virtual machines they depend on as they move across the network, writes CTO Edge.

The Enterasys S-Series of routers and switches is part of an enterprise networking trend that is seeing more virtual machine and application management capabilities being embedded inside the core network.

But while other providers of networking equipment have focused on adding enough intelligence to track virtual machines, Enterasys is taking this trend to its next logical step by also tracking and optimising network performance based on what applications have the highest business priority.

Covad to merge

A provider of multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) network services in the US has confirmed it is to combine with two communications firms, states One Stop Click.

Covad has entered into an agreement which will see its range of solutions brought together alongside the operations of both Speakeasy and Megapath by the third quarter of this year.

It is believed the move will create a major managed services carrier with the ability to offer a breadth of solutions, from IP voice to and virtual private network solutions.
