Discovering and developing the killer app for your business; building mobile platforms for internal and external clients; and enabling mobile workers to access the enterprise while addressing the resultant enterprise concerns are just some of the issues business and technology leaders need to take cognisance of.

"And then there's the question of enterprise-wide integration to consider as well, along with budgets, suppliers, and more," says Fay Humphries, events programme director for ITWeb Events.

"The key to success here involves finding the business drivers and building mobility business processes, as opposed to approaching mobility as an add-on. And that's a lot easier said than done, given the scope of enterprise mobility."

Research done by ITWeb, in partnership with Accenture, towards the end of May last year showed over two-thirds of the respondents ranked their organisation's mobility priority as "high" or "very high". Roughly the same number advised that their companies provided some level of support to employees using their own mobile devices for work purposes.

"Just managing the plethora of mobile devices and operating systems in the space can be overwhelming at large corporates, given the number of employees involved," adds Humphries.
