A mainframe Linux version of the WebFocus tool has been released by Information Builders, a New York-based business intelligence solutions company represented in SA by ICL.

"Information Builders has been a long-time supporter of Linux running on mid-tier platforms such as Intel, and has now extended this support through its WebFocus for mainframe Linux offering," says Twanette Jurd, solutions manager of ICL`s Systems Integration and Business Intelligence Unit.

"WebFocus is the only enterprise business intelligence solution that runs on mainframe Linux, which means Linux users can now take advantage of an integrated suite for delivering information to unlimited users across an enterprise at the lowest possible cost."

WebFocus for mainframe Linux gives customers the best of both worlds, says Jurd. "Customers now have the ability to securely access and integrate residing on the Linux operating system as well as over 85 other applications and across 35 platforms, including MVS/OS/390, VM/CMS, Unisys, Unix and Windows NT."

Jurd says WebFocus` data access capabilities give users secure access to any data set under MVS/OS/390, including DB2, IMS and VSAM.
