Business Objects goes online
Business Objects has introduced crystalreports.com, the company`s software-as-a-service (SAAS) offering, which IDC research says is the first major SAAS initiative in the BI market.
Computer World says the offering is an on demand, report sharing platform that enables customers to share business information securely.
Crystalreports.com is aimed at wooing mid-sized organisations by offering enterprise BI without the need for additional IT infrastructure investment.
Data warehousing demand is up
Demand for data warehousing projects in US organisations is increasing, according to a survey of participants in an online webinar panel forum hosted by data management software provider, Kalido, says DM Review
The article says the 75% positive response from participants validates the renewed interest in innovative approaches to enterprise data warehousing.
The survey result is supported by other studies citing the steady rise of BI projects, for which data warehousing is a key component.
SAS, Bull announce joint European initiative
SAS and Bull have announced they are strengthening their partnership with a joint initiative to implement advanced BI solutions around enterprise resource planning (ERP) in Europe.
CRM Today says the Bull and SAS initiative is aimed at enabling organisations to improve their business performance and strategic management using data collected from an ERP system.
The report says a number of major customers have already decided to implement SAS 9 with direct access to an ERP system like SAP, with the aim of controlling their businesses more effectively and adding a layer of intelligence on top of their ERP data.
Oracle introduces new BI suite
Oracle has introduced a BI suite that uses open, standards-based software designed for all users and business processes throughout the enterprise, reports MMS Mag.
The report says the Oracle Business Intelligence Suite unites Oracle`s BI middleware with Siebel Business Analytics.
Oracle says its BI offering is aimed at addressing the complete spectrum of BI and analytical requirements when used in combination with Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle`s PeopleSoft Enterprise, Oracle`s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and Oracle`s Siebel pre-built analytic applications.
