The BEQSA 2003 expo started at the new multimillion-rand Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) today.
About 86 companies are exhibiting at the event, which fills a gap vacated by Computer Faire Cape Town. The faire was not staged in Cape Town this year as the organiser, Exhibitions for Africa, focused on the 25th anniversary show in Johannesburg instead.
BEQSA 2003 is the first major trade event to be held at CTICC since its recent opening in the Cape Town city centre, and organiser Doug Adams says: "Response to the exhibition has been extremely positive and the first day has been chock-a-block with people visiting and exhibitors."
BEQSA has been described as the biggest business equipment and office automation event to be staged in the Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. The Cape leg will end on 5 June and the Durban event will be held from 7 to 9 October.
Adams says BEQSA 2003 showcases the vital elements needed to run a successful business and is intended to be the premier business-to-business expo in each area.
This event will target players in the commerce, industry, professional as well as government and municipal sectors. It will include the sectors of stationery and office products, signage and graphics, marketing and media services, IT, safety and security, communications and mobile technology.
"Direct contact in a face-to-face situation is a critical component of advertising strategy, and companies that target the above markets now have an ideal opportunity to not only build brand awareness, source leads and prospects but most importantly have a major tool to increase their sales turnover in the two regions," says Adams.
Companies exhibiting at the show include Canon, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Hewlett-Packard, Telkom Business and Panasonic.
