Chivas Regal adds a touch of class to online auctions

Chivas Regal, the Scotch Whisky maker, has joined forces with online auction site eBay in an effort to raise funds to benefit charities around the world.

The lots on offer include adventure getaways to exotic locations, rounds with golf pros and the opportunity to meet other sporting heroes, dinners with celebrities, and a multitude of experiences that are normally just out of reach - like hot air ballooning with Sir Richard Branson, or having a dinner prepared for you by the celebrated TV chef, Antony Worrall Thompson.

SA`s lots include an evening with Miriam Makeba at the Lost City, an autographed first edition copy of former president Nelson Mandela`s "Long Walk to Freedom", dinner with Charlize Theron, and a traditional hunt on foot with San Bushmen in the Kalahari.

The Reach for a Dream Foundation, the Childhood Cancer Foundation of SA, Cotlands Baby Sanctuary, The Red Cross Society of SA, the Ithemba Trust and the Ernie Els foundation are among the local charities that will benefit from the auction.

For those seeking out a more exotic experience, the international lots offer such delights as performing live with the Moscow State Circus, a behind the scenes look at the Benetton Formula 1 racing team at Silverstone in the UK, or a flight in a MIG 25.

Chivas 200 will also auction off celebrity-owned items, related memorabilia and several rare works of art.

The event commemorates the 200th anniversary since the founding of Chivas Brothers. Chivas 200 went live yesterday at www.chivas.com, and runs through to the end of October. Registration is free, but be warned, bidding is facilitated in sterling.
