The Cape Information Technology Initiative (CITI) has partnered with the Technology Top 100 (TT100) awards programme, organised and hosted by Da Vinci Enterprises, to recognise the achievements of the Cape IT sector.
According to the two organisations, the significance of CITI taking ownership of the Western Cape leg of the competition is that there will be a concerted push behind raising both the profile of the Cape ICT sector and the Cape-based companies that enter the competition.
"The Cape has a vibrant ICT sector and we want to ensure that, as Capetonians, we are aware of the innovation taking place in our own back yard," says Masedi Molosiwa, executive director of CITI.
"We would also like to ensure the success stories coming from Western Cape companies are trumpeted and they are properly represented at a national level. In particular, we are looking at recognising organisations that are developing new technology or using it in an innovative way."
All ICT entries from the Western Cape will be given special recognition and media coverage through the TT100 awards for 2005 at an awards ceremony in September.
The top ICT companies in the Western Cape will automatically be included in the national TT100 awards programme. The finalists and winners of these are to be celebrated at an awards banquet on 8 November along with all other finalists and winners from other sectors and regions.
Entries can be made online at www.tt100.co.za by 15 July.
