Comcast combines voice-mail, e-mail

Aiming to tie its triple-play customers together, Comcast said it will tie voice-mail and e-mail in a common dashboard, reports ITNews.com.

The company said it will establish a communications centre that will enable customers to use e-mail, voice-mail, instant messaging and address books from an integrated Web-based dashboard.

Called SmartZone, the application is scheduled to be deployed later this year, and will be free of charge for most Comcast customers.

Apptix acquires WebMessenger

Apptix has acquired WebMessenger, a technology company with a suite of mobile instant messaging (IM) products that it says works across more devices, platforms, and public and private IM networks than any other provider, reports Tmcnet.

WebMessenger provides Apptix with mobile messaging and collaboration product and engineering expertise in critical emerging Mobile IM and voice over Protocol (VOIP) markets.

WebMessenger will expand Apptix's existing portfolio of on-demand e-mail, collaboration and voice solutions to include business-class mobile and desktop IM.

Messaging abuse reduced

Cloudmark and MailChannels Corporation, have launched a new offering called Traffic Control with Cloudmark Authority, says Sanfrancisco.dbusinessnews.

The multi-layered solution for mid-tier ISPs combines MailChannels' connection management technology, which regulates the flow of suspicious e-mails at the 's edge with Cloudmark Authority's accuracy in identifying and blocking spam, viruses and .

The companies say the solution dramatically reduces the overall volume of messaging abuse draining network resources and clogging up subscriber in-boxes.
