Content management goes open source
Alfresco Labs 3 is a new open source alternative to Microsoft's SharePoint enterprise content management software, says ECM Connection.

Formerly called "Alfresco Community", Alfresco Labs 3 offers users the first open source fully compatible SharePoint repository.

IBM helps with compliance
IBM has introduced new enterprise content management (ECM) software designed to help clients meet challenging legal discovery requirements, reports Market Watch.
The new IBM eDiscovery solutions extend IBM's ECM software platform to enable organisations to proactively take control of electronically stored information across the enterprise, helping to reduce eDiscovery costs and improve responsiveness to litigation.
IBM's eDiscovery software helps companies manage the entire eDiscovery process by enabling them to automate the collecting, searching and classifying of critical information across multiple content sources.
