Corporate governance progresses

The top five improved indicators of 2007 include corporate , a new survey by the London-based Commonwealth Business Council has revealed, according to Earth Times.

The other four indicators were a better future outlook, human resources, financial architecture and business-friendly tax .

On the whole, respondents acknowledged this was an exciting period for businesses that were competitive. They noted remarkable improvements in telecommunications and the growth in most sectors of industry as positive developments.

Financial bodies focus on governance

The Deloitte & Touche annual survey of practices of 169 financial institutions found that 98% are spending more on information security this year than last, and putting a greater emphasis on IT governance, according to Computer World.

The biggest spending hikes were made in audit or certification costs, logical-access control products, infrastructure protection devices and compliance and risk management, according to the 2007 Global Security Survey.

Eighty-one percent of the financial institutions surveyed said they`ve adopted a formal information security governance framework, up from about 70% last year.

Sabre looks to BEA

Sabre Holdings has begun using BEA AquaLogic Enterprise Repository 3.0 to serve as a central repository for governing, managing and distributing its Web Services, according to PR Newswire.

In addition, BEA AquaLogic Enterprise Repository is helping Sabre manage its entire inventory of internal services, components, frameworks and other software assets.

"BEA AquaLogic Enterprise Repository has helped us promote and govern our SOA assets and understand where and what services are being used. This enables us to analyse market trends to optimise product delivery and continue meeting our customers` needs," said Bob Prevenslik, director of Web Services at Sabre Holdings.
