Allaboutprojectmanagement has become the first international partner for a German-based project estimation methodology developer. The local project management specialist will distribute and promote Cost Xpert's services and products throughout the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
“The corporate challenge is the same in SA as in the rest of the world - completing a project on time, on spec and on budget,” says Cost Xpert founder and CEO Joachim Gielnik.
A statement from Cost Xpert says it has more than 5 000 global clients. Matthew Pitman, a shareholder and sales director at Allaboutprojectmanagement, says the company will benefit from Cost Xpert's expertise in estimation.
“We've been on the lookout to diversify our product and service offering, so when I proposed Cost Xpert's solution to a client of ours, I decided to call them up and suggest a partnership.”
Going global
The project management JV hopes to provide solutions to the pharmaceutical and mining sectors of the SADC region. Pitman says project management has gained more necessity in these two sectors, especially on the back of the current economic crisis, and companies need to spend more wisely.
“I have personally observed an increasing complexity in the field of project management. I have also seen a number of billion-rand implementations going awry and costs escalating because of inadequate resources, as well as poor planning and cost estimation upfront,” says Allaboutprojectmanagement chairman John Miller.
Pitman adds that both companies hope to bring about a paradigm shift in the field of project management, whereby simplicity is the key.
“Allaboutprojectmanagement has a two-year contract with Cost Xpert and we are looking at 50 potential clients. We hope to go a long way with Cost Xpert as they seek to globalise their business.”
