India to host IGF 2008
The United Nations says the third meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be held in Hyderabad, India, next month, reports VAR India.
The IGF evolved from the World Summit on Information Society in 2005 when governments asked the United Nations to convene a new forum for policy dialogue to foster the Internet's sustainability, robustness, security, stability and development.
The first meeting of the IGF was held in Athens in November 2006, and last year Rio de Janeiro hosted the second edition in November. The theme for this year's forum is “Internet for All”.
Grandfathering provision soon over
The global IT body Information System Audit and Control Association (Isaca) has extended to 31 December the grandfathering provision for the Certified Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) programme, says AllAfrica.com.
The grandfathering provision is Isaca's concession to corporate executives and senior IT personnel with a minimum of eight years' experience to get the CGEIT on the basis of their experience rather than by written examinations.
Business Intelligence Technologies is Isaca's global Professional Examination Service Centre and certification handler in Nigeria and West Africa. To ensure corporate executives in Nigeria with the specified years of experience get the certification without being subjected to written examinations, the organisation has scheduled two workshops for Abuja and Lagos.
