International ICT firm Datatec has appointed Stephen Davidson as a non-executive director, with effect from the beginning of next month.
Davidson is chairman of SPG Media Group, Enteraction TV and Digital Marketing Group. He is also a non-executive director of Inmarsat, Betex Group and EBT Mobile China.
Datatec chairman Leslie Boyd says the company is "delighted that Stephen is joining the board. Having held a number of directorships at communications and media companies, as well as leading roles in UK investment banking, he will make a significant contribution to Datatec."
Davidson has held various positions in investment banking, most recently at WestLB Panmure, where he was global head of media and telecoms, investment banking, then vice-chairman of investment banking.
Between 1993 and 1998, he was FD and then CEO of Telewest Communications and was chairman of the Cable Communications Association from 1996 to 1998.
Davidson, who holds an honours degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Aberdeen, will also serve as a member of the audit, compliance and risk committee and the remuneration and nomination committee.
Other directorships Davidson has held include a position as a director of Broadreach Networks and its 100%-owned subsidiary Broadreach Trains Services in March 2004 and June 2004 respectively.
He resigned as a director of both companies in April 2005 and both firms were subsequently placed in administration in October 2005.
