Dell has debuted 'cloud services' in a move it says is a strategic regional expansion of its global programme. It is also the company's first time launching cloud in Africa.
Nick Hyner, director Cloud Services EMEA at Dell, says the benefits of cloud computing are numerous - improving business processes and operational efficiency, essentially reinventing the role of IT.
He says Dell offers a totally flexible solution across public, private and hybrid cloud computing environments, from creating a strategy, to building the cloud, to managing the platform, to hosting services.
Dell's approach is also vendor-agnostic, providing the flexibility and choice to offer customers the best cloud platform tailored to suit their specific needs, he says.
Regardless of which cloud vendor a customer already uses, Dell's cloud services can help customers support their business needs by formulating a strategy and service catalogue that combines self-service and managed services, adds Hyner.
In addition, Dell can develop hosted test environments and Web sites with packaged software and enable customers to compare and choose from infrastructure services from a wide range of top cloud providers. He says the entire cloud environment can also be managed through a single console.
Dell's cloud solutions are designed to be customised to the specific needs and environments of an organisation to help it attain its goals. "Irrespective of where you are on your on-premise to off-premise journey, Dell has got skin in the game," he concludes.
