Since launching the channel programme in April and converting to a channel-only cloud vendor, Cloud On Demand has been actively recruiting and signing up partners.
Digital Science SA has chosen to partner with Cloud On Demand for the Backup On Demand disaster recovery and data backup solution.
"In discussions with many prospective partners, the desire to embrace a new way of engaging with customers has become evident. Cloud is not going to go away; it is going to effect the typical IT reseller heavily over the next two to three years. With more than 20 years' experience in the IT industry, Digital Science certainly understands how to adapt and embrace solutions that deliver value back to their customers. We are very excited to have them as partners," said Kathryn Blom, Channel Manager at Cloud on Demand.
"We have partnered with Cloud on Demand to sell solutions to our customers 'on demand'. This partnership allows for data in the cloud to be stored locally. By having the data in South Africa, there is no risk of a customer's confidential data being controlled by a non-South African government. In addition, Backup On Demand saves them and us the huge expense of spending capex on expensive on-premise hardware that will only last for three years.
"We will concentrate on the business solutions and keep the networks and users running; Cloud On Demand will concentrate on supplying the 'demand'; and the customer can concentrate on what he does best... running his business," said Daan van der Merwe, Digital Science SA Director.
Although the initial focus will be on Backup On Demand, Digital Science will explore how to take advantage of other Cloud On Demand products in order to enable the hybrid cloud for its customers where it makes business sense.
