Disney grows use

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (WDSHE) is set to broaden the use of BI tools across the division after the successful roll-out of the technology in its sales department, says VNUNet.

Following a review in 2001 which found there were no consistent views of related to sales performance in the business, data warehouse and reporting methodology for that area was introduced in 2003.

The latest stage of WDSHE's is to broaden its user base and deepen the use of BI across the organisation by covering areas such as finance, marketing, operations and some of the accountancy functions.

IBM enhances software

IBM has enhanced its software portfolio, which will make it easier for clients to combine and use information from across their businesses to quickly and easily improve performance and better compete in the global market, says CNN Money.

New versions of IBM InfoSphere Master Data Management Server and IBM InfoSphere Balanced Warehouse are available.

The InfoSphere software and solutions provide real-time access to trusted information, enabling companies to make better business decisions and achieve flexibility in the use of data throughout the enterprise.

HP improves capabilities

The new version of HP Neoview includes several patented technologies for operational BI that simultaneously handle mixed workloads of massive queries along with thousands of short, transaction-like queries, says Fox Business.

These new enhancements put key information into the hands of every type of decision maker when they require it.

The new model of operational BI extends beyond traditional business intelligence by empowering workers across an enterprise with immediate access to information to make better decisions in real time.
