Drive Control has launched Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) VPN, a new product from Associates, aimed at securing networks in an e-business environment.

PGP VPN is part of the PGP e-business suite but is sold separately, according to Justin Thorpe, NAI business unit manager/product manager.

"The PGP VPN is a total network solution with a 128-bit encryption compared to the usual 56-bit," Thorpe explains. "It is suitable for the individual end-user as well as corporates and is the only encryption software allowed to be sold outside of the US."

The PGP VPN secures the gateway between two points of communication over the . As valuable and private information moves across the Net, the PGP VPN ensures that encryption codes are impossible to decode.

In addition, if data is being tampered with during the transfer of information, the PGP VPN will let both users know.

"This means confidential information is kept confidential," says Thorpe.
