Duxbury Networking is to distribute the new NetPilot VPN and NetPilot Enterprise VPN `secure appliances` from its principal Equiinet. They are said to offer an easy and secure way for organisations to deploy Internet-based IPSec Virtual Private Networks, Internet access and e-mail facilities.
They are designed to integrate key communications, networking and server elements into a single unit.
Graham Vorster, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking, says NetPilot VPN is targeted at medium-sized organisations or for use as a VPN node at a branch office of a larger organisation.
"NetPilot Enterprise VPN is ideal for locating at a central site or for power applications at branch offices," he says.
"These new offerings allow organisations to establish totally secured VPNs between their sites using existing Internet connections. Secure networks can be established in the same way.
"Other Internet activities, such as Web browsing and the transferring of e-mail to and from other destinations around the world, can operate alongside the VPN activity," he explains.
Vorster says it is also possible to establish VPN connections from remote sites that have NetPilot VPN with ISDN connectivity, to a centrally located NetPilot VPN or Enterprise VPN which has a permanent Internet connection via leased-line or DSL.
Both NetPilot VPN products provide the facilities for remote access to, and administration of, NetPilots and associated local networks. Also provided is the functionality to remotely access e-mail on NetPilot or an office mail-server on its LAN, from anywhere in the world.
