Duxbury Networking has announced the Quidway R2600E router series from its principal Huawei Technologies.
Distributed exclusively in SA by Duxbury, this family comprises the R2620E and R2630E offerings, both modular in design to cater for varying network demands.
The R2620E is targeted at small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) where it fills the role of a backbone or core router. Both the R2620E and R2630E are suitable for access router applications in larger organisations or in branch offices.
The preloaded availability of both security and voice-enabling software (not aftermarket purchases) is a key feature of the routers, and one that sets Huawei routers apart from their competitors, according to Graham Vorster, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.
From a technical perspective the R2620E features two fixed WAN serial ports, one or two Ethernet ports (depending on specification) and two modular expansion slots.
The R2630E can be configured according to users specification, and is available with three modular expansion slots, and one or two 10/100Mbps Ethernet ports.
"The routers have been designed to allow for configuration flexibility, says Vorster. "Their performance is delivered via 64-bit processors and high-speed bus technologies, and they both feature Huawei`s VRP (Versatile Routing Platform) network operating system.
By virtue of its VOIP functionality, the Quidway R2600 series is able to deliver high quality voice transmissions - seamlessly integrating speech with data.
Other features of the Quidway R2600E series routers include:
* Support for standard DDR and flexible DDR dial-up;
* Support for dumb terminal access server functions;
* Quality of service functionality;
* Security;
* Remote access;
* VOD (VOIP and VOFR); and
* Support for VLAN, SNA/DLSw and SNA trans-WAN transmissions.
The routers use Huawei`s power supply safety technology that ensures stable output and higher levels of reliability, together with instant power-off protection.
