Duxbury Networking, channel partners support Santa Shoe Box Project

Johannesburg, 12 Nov 2010

Specialist distributor Duxbury Networking has thrown its weight behind the Santa Shoebox Project, a non-profit organisation that collects Christmas gifts for socially disadvantaged children.

CEO Graham Duxbury says the initiative is instrumental in giving children, many of whom have never received a Christmas gift, a moment of joyful anticipation during the festive season.

“We have decided to support this cause and have supplied a significant number of gift-filled 'shoeboxes' - actually modem boxes - each individually decorated and labelled with a recipient's name,” he says.

“The project organisers provided content guidelines for each individual gift box, helping us to give every child an age-appropriate gift.”

Duxbury has involved the company's staff, accredited resellers, dealers and business partners in the project, all of whom have agreed to forego conventional holiday season gifts to support the Santa Shoebox Project.

The project was established in 2006 as an initiative of the Kidz2Kidz Trust, a registered Public Benefit Organisation that offers assistance to children in need.

Spearheaded by Kidz2Kidz founder Dee Boehner and co-ordinated by Iren`e Pieters, the project has grown exponentially. From the distribution of just 180 shoeboxes in 2006, 16 000 were disseminated in 2009. This year the project is targeting 28 000 boxes and is expanding its footprint to include Botswana and Namibia.
