South African networking distributor, Duxbury Networking, and Mitel Networks are together empowering specialist data solutions resellers to extend their business, by providing them with necessary skills and products to compete in the voice marketplace as well.
Duxbury`s 11 years of voice and data expertise coupled with Mitel`s leadership in the IP telephony space will enable resellers to provide high-level expertise strengthened by competitively priced solutions.
Says Graham Vorster, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking: "The adoption of IP telephony in SA has been marred by expensive equipment that tends to lack the necessary functionality, and a shortage of skilled VARs [value-added resellers].
"However, together with Mitel we can indeed enable resellers drive the adoption of IP telephony with products - that are priced up to 30% less than other solutions - backed by our expertise in the SA data and voice markets."
Mitel`s IP telephony products enjoy critical acclaim, with its 5230 IP Appliance recently named by US-based Technology Marketing Corporation`s Internet Telephony magazine as the "Product of the Year" for 2002.
In addition, Mitel recently released its 5001 and 5005 IP Phones that address the needs of the low cost desktop segment of the market.
Duxbury will provide resellers with pre- and post-sales support, IP telephony training as well as a proof of concept facility.
"The time has come for data resellers to start looking at the local voice market, which will result in a new revenue stream," he concludes.
Duxbury is Mitel`s official distributor in SA.
