With wireless solutions taking centre stage in the local area network (LAN) arena, leading value-added distributor, Duxbury Networking, has taken steps to restructure its organisation with a view to more effectively assisting its channel partners to address wireless LAN (WLAN) sales opportunities.
In terms of the restructure, Duxbury has strengthened its pre-sales division to its organisation in move to provide an interface between sales and technical support staff when dealing with resellers.
According to Graham Vorster, chief technology officer at Duxbury, this comes in the wake of a significant 50% growth in Duxbury`s WLAN sales over the past six months, fuelled by new products and technologies arriving on the market.
"Until recently, technology and cost restrictions have limited the implementation of WLANs to vertical markets," he says.
"However, significant technology improvements, new standards and increased competition have slashed the cost or WLANs products by half. This has been supported by a five-fold boost in speeds of new generation WLANs.
"This should bring flexible, cost-effective, reliable and truly mobile solutions to the table for a broader range of companies."
Vorster sees this as an opportunity to move into the market more aggressively to assist Duxbury`s channel partners in offering the right advice and support to their customers.
"Despite the euphoria over wireless technologies, a poor purchasing decision today could have serious cost, performance and security repercussions in the long-term," he adds.
