EMC acquires IT management provider

EMC has acquired privately-held Infra, a provider of IT service management software, says Earth Times.

This acquisition further solidifies EMC's "Closed Loop Service Orchestration" strategy, designed to automate data centre operations and return visibility and control to IT management.

The acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on revenue or EPS for 2008.

CA joins Leadership Council

CA has joined the Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG), one of the world's largest independent software companies, reports Business Wire.

OCEG is a member of the Leadership Council, and Kenneth Handal, executive VP of Global Risk and Compliance at CA, will represent the company on the council.

"OCEG is delighted that CA has joined our expanding Leadership Council. We believe that CA's substantial global expertise in enterprise IT management will serve our entire community of more than 13 000 GRC practitioners," according to Lane Leskela, VP of technology programs at OCEG.

Novell to acquire management tech

Novell is acquiring PlateSpin, according to PR-USA.

This purchase will extend Novell's position in the next-generation data centre by providing the only solution to dynamically deliver business-critical services across both physical and virtual infrastructures.

PlateSpin offers solutions for the management of heterogeneous workloads that encapsulate data, applications and operating systems residing on a physical or virtual host.
