EMC reports Q3 growth
EMC recently reported a third quarter net income of $493 million, up more than $200 million over the same period last year.
EMC chairman and CEO Joe Tucci said EMC might look at further acquisitions, but is now focused on companies that will help grow its existing businesses.
"My philosophy is that I want to stay focused on what I call the 'eight spheres of technology`, so acquisitions that we do would basically make some of these spheres stronger rather than put another sphere on the board," he said.

Ingres makes SME move
Business intelligence (BI) provider Ingres has declared its intentions to go after the mid-sized market, as expectation mounts for the as yet unannounced collaboration with content management provider, Alfresco, says IDM.net.
While it`s yet to sign up any mid-sized customers in the Asia Pacific region, there`s excitement in the Ingres ranks about the potential opportunities being presented.
"Mid-market customers don`t understand when the enterprise sales people start talking about detailed analytical reasons to try BI software; what they are interested in is how it can save them money and improve their business," said Fred Gallagher, VP of Business Development at Ingres.
