EOH Network Solutions, a division of EOH, has announced its Virtual Desktop offering now comes with unlimited Internet access.

The Virtual Desktop Solution, possibly the most advanced available in the country, allows clients to deploy user desktops in the cloud, reducing administration and management costs. Companies that purchase this service fromEOHNSwill also get direct user-based Internet access as an inclusive service in the Virtual Desktop Cloud offering.

Brandon Dienar, Sales Manager atEOHNS: "We firmly believe that clients will start adopting virtual desktop more and more over the coming years, and that providing Internet as an inclusive service will reduce some of the unknowns within this market."

Even though in terms of adoption the Virtual Desktop product offerings are in their infancy, it seems hard to believe that these services will not become mainstream options for small and large companies alike. The amount of security control that is inherent in the offering makes it very attractive, as well as the inability for users to abuse the service and the network.

"Moving onto the Virtual Desktop Service of EOH NS internally has been an interesting experience. You may initially lose some of the flexibility you had as a user in terms of applications you can install on your desktop, but user rights can be controlled through an administrator console. Overall, I can access all the relevant work-oriented information I had before with no real noticeable difference in usage speed. From a company perspective, we have thinapped all the applications we need, such as Microsoft Office, Google Earth and Telkom tariff program, and have made them available to respective users, naturally restricting users from downloading applications they don't need."

The EOH Cloud service is built around an administrator console and application store where you can deploy services for users or create new users within minutes. Creating a new desktop on the network can take less than five minutes through this platform, and it can be done from anywhere in the world.

"EOHNScharges R475 per month for a virtual desktop, which comes with unlimited Internet per user. Additional products are available through the marketplace, such as Office, Visio, etc, but clients can use their own Microsoft licensing to enable these features through the app store. The Internet access is based on a fair usage policy, so if users do abuse the service, we reserve the right to charge them if they do not change their behaviour," ends Dienar.
