Local software development house Barone, Budge and Dominick (BB&D) has released its Tradeworx Equity Derivatives software.
The solution caters for shares, share options, futures and option on futures, says independent Tradeworx Equity Derivatives distributor Maggie Anderson.
"It is a position-keeping, risk management and modelling tool for traders in the equity market, providing a means to analyse risk by tracking clients` open positions and risk profiles.
"This allows traders and fund managers to make informed decisions based on accurate information."
It also enables them to model different 'what if` scenarios based on market or volatility shifts, adds Anderson.
The software is based on the company`s Tradeworx Agri solution, which was released in June for the agricultural and futures and options market. Both feature the same functionality, Anderson says, but the latest solution is modelled around the equity derivatives market rather than commodity derivatives.
Initial reaction to Tradeworx Equity Derivatives has been positive, says BB&D executive Nella Putter. "Before this, some traders were still using spreadsheets, which are quite clumsy. With this software, they are able to eliminate the risk of finger-trouble and human intervention."
The solution costs R15 000, which covers the installation, training and set-up, says Putter. "There is also an annual licence per user, but clients with more than five users get a discount."
