Europe, US lead governance
One in three companies worldwide are applying IT governance procedures in a bid to assess the performance and security of their IT systems, says VNUNet.
The IT Governance Global Status Report 2008 canvassed the opinions of around 750 senior executives from 23 countries.
Europe and the US lead on IT governance adoption rates with half of respondents indicating that they had either implemented IT governance initiatives or were about to do so.
BWise ranked positive
BWise, a provider of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software solutions, has been ranked as 'positive' in the MarketScope for IT GRC by Gartner, says the Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Journal.
According to BWise CTO, Luc Brandts, "BWise continues to experience strong growth in North America and Europe and is especially proud of our ability to simultaneously address GRC as well as IT controls."
According to the report, "The primary reason why some buyers look to enterprise GRC platform vendors, rather than IT GRC vendors, for IT governance functionality is that they are taking an enterprise approach to compliance and risk management, and want to have all business units, including the IT organisation, on the same GRC management solution."
NASCIO releases issue brief
The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) has released an issue brief named "IT Governance and Business Outcomes - A Shared Responsibility between IT and Business Leadership", says Government Technology.
This issue brief presents a new environment where IT must be managed as a business capability for achieving business transformation.
This publication is the introduction to a forthcoming series on governance. The governance challenge was ranked as one of the top ten priorities of state CIOs in a survey of the states conducted in October of 2007.
