Formula One competition launched by Duxbury

Johannesburg, 04 Mar 2004

Graham Duxbury, the "voice of Formula One motor racing" on SABC 3 and managing director of Duxbury Networking, has launched an innovative, Internet-based Formula One competition.

"With the excitement surrounding the start of another year of Formula One racing, the fans` views and hopes of what is going to happen and who is going to win can now work to their advantage," he says.

Duxbury is inviting visitors to his Web site - http://duxbury.co.za/formulaone - to predict the winners (from first to eighth place) at each event - starting with the Australian Grand Prix this weekend (6 and 7 March).

An attractive prize will be on offer to the winner, who is determined by a points scoring system, based on the level of accuracy of the prediction. Prizes will differ from race to race. For this weekend`s race, an authentic 1/18th scale model of a Formula One car, of the winner`s choice, is on offer.

To help entrants along, the Web site features two detailed race previews from well-known international racing commentator, Bob Constanduros, and Duxbury. For those whose Formula One knowledge is sketchy, the site also includes a complete line-up of cars and drivers, as well as an outline of the 2004 rule changes and how they are expected to affect the cars this year.

Entries for the Australian Grand Prix close at midnight on Thursday, 4 March. The winner will be notified via e-mail on 8 March. All entrants will receive the detailed race results.

The competition will continue throughout the 2004 Formula One World Championship season.
