Faculty Training Institute (FTI) proudly welcomes on board Quality Assurance (QA) and Testing specialist, Celia Gaylard. Gaylard joins FTI full-time as its Portfolio Manager in the domain. Under her dynamic leadership and extensive industry experience, FTI is gearing for the repositioning and growth of its Quality Assurance and Testing portfolio over the next 12 months.
Gaylard has been actively involved in the software testing arena for 18 years. Mike Eccles, Programme Director of FTI, said Gaylard was their first choice to grow FTI's QA and Testing Portfolio. "Since 2011, Celia been lecturing and designing course-ware for FTI on a part-time basis. We sought to retain her permanently this year. Celia has held multiple senior test leadership roles in the banking and telecommunications industries."
Gaylard describes educating and moulding testers as her greatest passion. In her personal experience as a sought-after and often head-hunted tester, Gaylard explains that having interpersonal skills opens doors to career opportunities and advancement. "Interpersonal skills increase understanding between all stakeholders in the SDLC and ensures quality throughout the whole process through collaboration."
FTI's upgraded Certificate Programme in Software Testing launches this October 2014. The course will equip testers not only to be technically proficient, but places emphasis on communication and leadership skills. "It is important that testers lead not only themselves but are also skilled at leading others," says Celia.
In the third quarter of 2014, FTI will also be introducing additional short courses on Automation in Testing, SQL for Testers and Soft Skills for Testers. It complements FTI's highly popular three-day Fundamentals of Software Quality Assurance and three-day Effective User Acceptance Testing courses.
