Fujitsu has unveiled the TeamPoS 7000 S-Series modular controller, which it says is designed to address the challenges of retailing in a hyper-connected world.
The controller has an ultra-small modular-PC form factor, and is simple and cost-effective to install, manage and run, even in highly constrained point-of-sale (POS), kiosk or self-checkout environments, says Fujitsu.
The release aims to make in-store retail more adaptable and responsive, while boosting POS economics at any scale. "The controller enables retail POS to maximise selling potential while keeping associated costs to a minimum," says the company.
The release features future-proof processing power that scales across the organisation, as the TeamPoS 7000 S-Series incorporates Intel fourth generation processors from Celeron to Core i5 vPro.
Geoff Chaplin, Retail POS Hardware Solutions director at Fujitsu, says the new series delivers innovative retail solutions that ultimately enable a differentiated customer experience. "In a hyper-connected world, store-owners can remain adaptable and responsive to changing opportunities, confident that Fujitsu delivers future-proof solutions that support this aim."
He says this hyper-connected world is core to modern retail, where customers are empowered and have high expectations, taking their business elsewhere should they be dissatisfied with the service they are receiving.
"Retailers invest millions of dollars every year to ensure their customers receive a consistently good in-store experience. That's why the TeamPoS 7000 S-Series leaves maximum counter space available for selling, branding and display material or other necessary equipment. The controller can be hidden away under the counter, placed either vertically or horizontally as suits existing furniture. No specialised furniture is required, leading to cost and rollout time savings.
According to Fujitsu, the technology is also greener, reducing installation costs, lowering energy consumption and cooling costs, as operation from a single power outlet is enabled, removing the need for external power bricks across different TeamPoS 7000 family members, including cash drawer or display.
Moreover, the newly introduced "90% efficiency" integrated power supply lowers heat output to reduce the carbon footprint, while patented power management controls processing power during peak peripheral demand.
The TeamPoS 7000 S-Series and D75 Projected Capacitive Touchscreen Display will be generally available in January direct from Fujitsu in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand. Other markets and distribution channels will follow. Prices vary by market and configuration.
