The Mkhwanazi Academy for Christian Entrepreneurship (MACE) will host an Entrepreneurship Growth Conference on 20 February at the MACE buildings in Vosloorus, Gauteng.
The objective is to help those who are unemployed or whose businesses in the township are struggling to grow beyond its borders.
Another objective is to make this a long-term effort, by raising funds for students in need to attend MACE in 2010.
Zibusiso Mkhwanazi, MACE rector, says the conference will cover topics such as 'Marketing in the townships', 'What it takes to start a business', 'What opportunities are available in the townships', and 'How the use of technology is taking off in the townships', among others.
Since more than half the speakers have a background in ICT, including Mkhwanazi, who was an ITWeb 'IT Personality of the year' finalist in 2009, there will be a strong focus on technology at the conference.
The event is aimed at CEOs, senior executives, marketing managers, and aspiring entrepreneurs, but is open to anyone who has interest in starting their own business, or growing their business in the township, says Mkhwanazi.
The event will also include an exhibition from MACE students and SMEs in the area that want to market their businesses to potential investors.
Ticket bookings and applications for exhibitions can be done online.
