Govt turns to BI
With the emphasis on accountability and key performance indicators, government departments and agencies are increasingly turning to business intelligence (BI) software, explains Bernama.com.
According to technology research firm IDC Malaysia, the government sector and the banking and finance industry, due to regulatory and corporate governance requirements, are driving the demand for BI solutions in Malaysia.
Its senior analyst Sharon Tan said the Malaysian BI software market is expected to grow by 12% to US$12.3 million this year, from US$10.8 million last year.
Company mobilises BI
Information Builders is the latest to release a BI tool that provides access to business data from any mobile device, explains Information Week.
Information Builders` WebFocus Active Reports software is designed in such a way that enables a person to interact with data on a smartphone the same way they would on a desktop.
Examples of BI provided on smartphones include executive reports on key metrics, portable performance management scorecards, operations metrics monitoring, sales indicators, and account information.
