Starbase, a provider of enterprise application management solutions designed to speed the software development lifecycle, has announced that Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, has implemented CaliberRM, Starbase's requirements management system, and StarTeam, Starbase's configuration and change management system. The aim is to enhance product quality and shorten time to market.
"As we set out to formalise our software development processes, we realised we needed automated tools that would allow our organisation to follow repeatable, pre-defined practices," says Robert Ward, senior director, product management at HDS.
"After extensive product research, we selected CaliberRM for requirements management and StarTeam for configuration and change management. Not only did we find each tool powerful on its own - the added benefit we could obtain from their integration was unmatched by other solutions."
CaliberRM and StarTeam are now corporate tools available to HDS's worldwide product management and marketing personnel. HDS is able to store all data assets in a central repository; easily share information between tools; and manage product changes to all hardware, firmware and software lines.
HDS will also integrate CaliberRM and StarTeam with Mercury Interactive's TestDirector, a Starbase partner testing solution.

HDS believes that the use of CaliberRM, StarTeam and TestDirector to automate key processes and enforce best practices will improve product time to market and overall quality. In addition, HDS believes CaliberRM and StarTeam will be instrumental in achieving Capability Maturity Model Level 2 and Level 3, and ISO 9001 certification.
