HP has introduced its HP t620 Flexible Series Thin Client that it says is the first to offer quad-core processors in a fan-less design.

Herbert Koeck, SVP HP PPS and MD HP EMEA, says the HPt620 features HP Remote Graphics Software and flexible options, which allows businesses to take advantage of the manageability and benefits of desktop virtualisation.

He says advances in thin client technology meant that flexibility and are no longer mutually exclusive. The introduction of a fan-less design and preconfigured high-performance processors and software, combines a powerful and seamless desktop, with enhanced security features.

"The redesigned chassis includes advanced passive cooling for fan-less support of quad-core processors."

In addition, Koeck says, the t620 combines AMD GX dual- or quad-core processor and AMD Radeon HD professional graphics, boosting multimedia performance. "The t620 is also HP's first thin client capable of powering two 30-inch diagonal 2 560 x 1 600 displays with the standard chassis."

He adds that the t620 is the company's first thin client with the option to have both integrated Fiber NIC and Ethernet at once, and the first with the option of a serial or VGA port.

In terms of security, the t620 features integrated as well as other, optional security features. These include a BIOS implemented to NIST guidelines, a TPM chipset, Fiber NIC communication options and lockable port cover options.

The HP t620 will be available globally this month.
