Ahead of the official start of HP`s Software Universe in Madrid, Cesare Capobianco, HP software global business unit VP for the EMEA region, told attendees that customer awareness was the main reason for the growth.
"Customers are realising they need to be adaptive to survive and they are choosing HP to help them achieve that in increasing numbers."
Nora Denzel, HP adaptive enterprise senior VP, said $8.1 billion in sales of adaptive enterprise solutions had been recorded for the 2004 financial year.
"A year-on-year increase of 44% in deals of over a million dollars is a good indicator of customer buy-in to adaptive enterprise strategy that uses software to automate changes based on business events," said Denzel.
Capobianco also pointed out that this year`s Software Universe was the biggest in the event`s history, with 2 900 registered attendees.
Todd DeLaughter, HP management software organisation VP, gave a preview of the announcements planned for this week`s Software Universe.
"The event will focus on key customer pain points around automation and insight to information," he said.
DeLaughter said in addition to core products like OpenView Automation manager being rolled out this week, HP would announce over 30 product enhancements.
"Among these is a reseller agreement with Cisco that will see many OpenView products being resold by the Cisco sales force," said DeLaughter. "We believe that ultimately powerful partnerships will determine who wins."
